Neil Kornfeld was a featured speaker at the Region Three Annual Meeting for Podiatrists sponsored by the American Podiatric Medical Association in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The topic of the presentation was the importance of collaborative care and timely referrals to medical specialists. Neil presented with Dr. John Guiliana, a nationally recognized speaker on topics pertaining to practice management.

February 23, 2010:

Neil Kornfeld was a featured speaker at the American College of Foot and Ankle Scientific Conference in Las Vegas on February 23, 2010. The lecture focused on the risks associated with failing to timely refer a patient to a specialist. Actual case examples were presented.

February 16, 2010:

Andrew Kowlowitz and Joshua Sandberg were featured participants at Cardozo School of Law's Litigation Practice Area Symposium. The symposium was geared toward providing guidance and insight to law students interested in pursuing a career in the field of litigation.

December 8, 2009:

FKB's Neil Kornfeld and Andrew Kowlowitz were featured speakers at an in-house insurance company seminar entitled "Attorney-Client Privilege and the Work Product Doctrine."

November 19, 2009:

FKB's Neil Kornfeld and Kathryn Collins were featured speakers at a risk management lecture at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. The presentation involved a discussion of theories of medical malpractice and practical risk management advice.

Mike Furman of Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP will be the featured speaker in the "Competency in Practice Area" segment of the New York State Bar Association CLE seminar entitled "Protecting Your Practice: Risk Management for Solo/Small Firms" in New York City, which is co-sponsored by the Committee on Law Practice Management and the Committee on Association Insurance Programs.

September 24, 2009:

Mike Furman of Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP will be a featured speaker at the American Bar Association's Fall 2009 National Legal Malpractice Conference, "Identifying Risk in a Changing Law Firm Landscape" on September 24, 2009. The Fall 2009 ABA LPL Conference, which is being held at the Swissotel in Chicago, Illinois on September 23-25, 2009, brings together LPL practitioners, law firm managing partners and general counsel, and LPL insurance professionals from across the country. Mike Furman will participate in a panel discussion (liability) on the topic of "Risk-Spotting in the New Law Firm Landscape: Liability and Coverage Issues."

FKB's Melissa Manning assisted in the preparation of the written materials for the LPL liability panel that will accompany this presentation.

August 9-12, 2009:

Neil Kornfeld, Esq. and R. Evon Howard, Esq. of Furman Kornfeld and Brennan LLP will be featured speakers at the New York State Bar Association's upcoming Continuing Legal Education "Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section 2009" Summer Meeting which is being held at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT from August 9-12, 2009. The program provides up to 7.5 MCLR credit hours, covers a wide variety of topics (including depositions, trial techniques, no-fault and workers' compensation) and is suitable for both experienced and young lawyers.

April 21, 2009:

Neil Kornfeld spoke to third and fourth year medical students at a local medical school on issues of medical malpractice, documentation and risk management.

April 16-17, 2009:

Michael Furman, Neil Kornfeld, Evon Howard, and Andrew Jones presented a seminar on Mediations and Negotiations to the attorneys and claims staff of a professional liability carrier.

March 27, 2009:

Evon Howard was a featured speaker on the topic of professional liability insurance coverage at the Syracuse session of the state-wide New York State Bar Association Legal Malpractice CLE seminar entitled "Anatomy of a Legal Malpractice Action."

March 20, 2009:

Andrew Jones participated as the moderator of the panel discussion regarding the "Sources of Legal Malpractice Claims" at the Albany session of the state-wide New York State Bar Association Legal Malpractice CLE seminar entitled "Anatomy of a Legal Malpractice Action."

Feb 20, 2009:

Mike Furman will be speaking on "Managing and Reducing Legal Malpractice Risks in Everyday Practice" at the New York City Bar Association's "Bridge-The-Gap" CLE Program.

Jan 28, 2009:

Mike Furman received the 2008-2009 "Outstanding Committee Chair of the Year" Award for his work as the Chair of the Lawyers Professional Liability and Ethics Committee for the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Jan 21, 2009:

Patrick Brennan and Neil Kornfeld presented a mock trial to physicians at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York. The case involved allegations that a defendant doctor failed to diagnose a patient's heart attack upon his presentation to the hospital. The physicians were also instructed on basic risk management principles.
